LED Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant made a trip to a local pub ahead of Wolverhampton Wanderer’s Monday night clash against Nottingham Forrest, pouring pints for footie fans.

The West Bromwich-born rock legend visited the packed-out Leaping Wolf pub in Wolverhampton on Monday, January 6, at first just to ask if he could use their car park.

The pub’s owner, Nathan Davies, explained how they cordon off the car park on match days and usually charge for parking.

However, he told Mr Plant he could park for free on one condition – that he got behind the bar.

Mr Davies said: “The bar was 12 deep, like a can of sardines and the whole room had their phones out.

“Robert was really nice, and him coming in really made our day.”

Mr Plant, who still lives locally in the West Midlands, is a lifelong Wolves fan and is now Vice President of the football club.

Seemingly not wanting to miss kick-off, his stint as a barman at the Leaping Wolf was short-lived with Mr Davies saying he was only there for around 20 minutes.

However, there was plenty of time to snap a picture of the singer pulling a pint of Neck Oil, a product of Beavertown Brewery of which his son, Logan Plant is the founder.

Mr Davies said, with it being a Monday night game, the pub is not usually as busy as it would be for weekend matches, but Mr Plant’s visit brought in some welcomed extra trade.

He added: “Fans were walking past on their way to the Mollineux, hearing what was going on and them cramming in to get a picture.”

Despite Wolves suffering a 3-0 defeat to Forrest, the musician’s visit will have no doubt still made Monday a night to remember for those lucky fans in the Leaping Wolf.
