Hull KR's Amsterdam venture took an unexpected twist - with a proposal taking place on the field! The Robins brought their matchday experience to the NRCA Stadium, with a Craven Streat-style fan zone among the offerings for those in attendance.

But there was an additional experience on offer for the 2,715 in attendance who enjoyed the half-time entertainment, with a Dutchman making sure he wouldn't forget the day in a hurry after getting down on one knee.

It was NRLB president Daan van Rossum who popped the question to his partner, Inge, with footage capturing the moment that was well-spread across social media.

Van Rossum has played a significant role in the development of rugby league in the country and with Hull KR taking rugby league to a new level over the weekend, he couldn't think of a better way to celebrate than asking the big question.

"I've been involved in Dutch rugby league from the beginning - this is my chosen family," he said. "This is the pinnacle for rugby league in the Netherlands, we started with 12 people on the pitch. Now we have 2,700 people in the stadium.

"My family is here, her family is here, friends are here, our chosen family are too. This was the right thing to do.

"We've known each other for two years now, she had never heard about rugby league before. She was a soccer fan but now she has seen the light. She loves it and helps me behind the scenes doing everything. She's expecting a little girl too, so I thought it was time to put a ring on it.

"Unfortunately, her parents passed away a few years ago. I asked her sister and the kids who are the most important people to her, so I asked them. Once they said yes I needed to get the ring and I asked Craig Franklin (Hull KR COO) if I was OK to do it at half-time and he said of course."

Thankfully, Inga said yes, adding to what was a hugely satisfying day.

"So many people who have never seen rugby league before have now," he said. "People just love it, it's action non-stop and you have to be a genius to understand what's going on. It needs steps like this from Hull KR to bring it to the big stage. If we do this for a few more years we'll get a lot more fans following this sport. It's a great club in all aspects, they've helped us with everything."
