'I was shocked' - Iliman Ndiaye explains key message to Everton team-mates as new challenge set
Iliman Ndiaye has challenged his Everton side to now produce the type of performance they did against Tottenham Hotspur on a weekly basis. The Blues started the road to recovery under returning manager David Moyes with a huge 3-2 victory over Ange Postecoglou’s side at Goodison Park.
While all the talk post-match was about how bad Spurs were for large parts of the game, Everton produced their best display of the campaign in the first half. Dominic Calvert-Lewin ended his goal drought when he opened the scoring after just 13 minutes before Ndiaye added a second 17 minutes later.
The Blues then compounded Spurs' misery in stoppage time when James Tarkowski’s header was turned into his own net by Archie Gray. Spurs, to their credit, came fighting back in the closing stages, and after Dejan Kulusevski reduced the arrears, Richarlison struck to set up a nervy finish in stoppage time, but the Blues hung on to pick up a huge three points

“We haven’t been getting too many wins recently, but today feels good.” Ndiaye said. “First half we gave everything we could, and we tried to do that in the second half, but we didn’t concentrate too much at the end to concede like that, but it feels good to get three points.”
Asked if this performance needs to be the blueprint moving forward, the playmaker replied: “Yeah, on a weekly basis and also for 90 minutes.
“We can’t go from a first half like that to obviously go a bit down in the second half. We need to play like this every week.
“We can’t let one game determine the rest of the season. We just need to show in the next games that we have got and repeat what we did today.”
Everton have already thrown away two 2-0 leads so far this season, and Ndiaye admits that what happened against Bournemouth and Aston Villa at the start of the campaign left him feeling nervous towards the end of the game.
He said: “Nervous? Yes, because it has happened too many times, and obviously it is all about concentration. We got three points, which is very good.”
Calvert-Lewin’s goal brought an end to a run that had lasted 17 matches. He twisted Gray left and then right before beating Antonin Kinsky at his right-hand post.

“What a goal by Dom! I was shocked,” Ndiaye said. “We need the goals to win games, and for confidence, it is very good. Hopefully more in the next few games.
"We just beat Tottenham, who are a big team. We just need to climb up the table now and get more wins.”
And opening up on life under Moyes and the tactical tweaks he has made, Ndiaye revealed: "We brought energy, and the fans were behind us, obviously a bit more structured, and everyone knows what each other is doing.
“The new manager has come in, and it is getting a bit more clearer what we want to do. Everyone is on the same page, the fans are behind us, and everything just clicked.
"The way we are structured, and obviously the strikers need to go more forward when we regain the ball. We are closer to the goal and closer to each other, which is what we want.
“I don’t know if it is freedom, but the whole team is just clicking. I feel like that is what is most important.”
