We 'signed' Randal Kolo Muani for Man United and Ruben Amorim's side won a trophy
With the transfer window now open, Ruben Amorim could be tempted to add to his squad, with Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani being linked with a move to Man United.
It seems that scoring goals has proven an issue for United for a while now, with only four teams in the Premier League having scored fewer than Amorim's side as we pass the halfway point of the campaign. Joshua Zirkzee, Rasmus Hojlund, and Marcus Rashford have only managed to score nine league goals between them, so a new striker could be priority for Amorim this month.
PSG striker Randal Kolo Muani could be an option for United, with the Frenchman being linked with a loan move to Old Trafford while Tottenham and Juventus have also shown interest. After scoring 26 goals in 50 games for Eintracht Frankfurt, the 26-year-old hasn't had the greatest time since moving to PSG in 2023, so a move to the Premier League could also suit the Frenchman.

So, if United were to sign Kolo Muani this month, how could he perform? Let's take a look.
Rest of Man United's 2024/25 season simulated with Randal Kolo Muani
To set up this simulation, we used Football Manager 2024 to move Kolo Muani to United in the January transfer window before simulating the rest of the 2024/25 season. This is how Amorim's side performed with the forward in their squad.
Kolo Muani's arrival had two impacts on the United squad – it pushed Hojlund to improve massively, while Zirkzee's game time became extremely limited. Amorim used Kolo Muani regularly, but with Hojlund hitting such good form, he eventually became an option from the bench.
That wasn't exactly a bad thing though. Kolo Muani made 18 appearances for United with eight off the bench, and five of his seven goals came when coming on as a substitute. Along with seven goals, the striker also managed three assists, while his average rating per game was 7.22 – only Kobbie Mainoo (7.27) and Bruno Fernandes (7.42) managed higher.
At the end of the 2024/25 season, Football Manager 2024 put together an overall best Man United XI, based on performances, statistics, and other metrics. This is what it looked like:
Full United best XI: (3-4-2-1): Onana; De Ligt, Yoro, Martinez; Mazraoui, Ugarte, Mainoo, Dalot; Fernandes, Garnacho; Hojlund.
Kolo Muani didn't make United's best XI, with Hojlund starting up top instead after grabbing 18 goals across all competitions, with 10 of those coming in the Europa League. Leny Yoro became a regular in defence in the second half of the season as he made the best XI, while Alejandro Garnacho also made the best XI on the left wing.
With Kolo Muani in the squad, United improved in the league, losing just four of the last 18 games. But Amorim's side let leads slip too often, and too many draws ultimately cost them a spot in any European competition for the following season.
13 wins, 12 draws, and 13 defeats saw United end the season with 51 points in ninth place, their worst-ever Premier League points tally and the lowest they've ever finished in the Premier League table. Amorim's side also finished with a negative goal difference, with seven points separating them from seventh-placed Nottingham Forest.
Manchester United made it to the Europa League final in the simulation, but despite Kolo Muani grabbing a goal, Amorim's side fell to a 3-2 defeat against Athletic Bilbao. Their FA Cup journey was much shorter though, losing 2-0 to Arsenal in the third round.
