Liverpool must overcome a one-goal deficit to reach the Carabao Cup final when they host Tottenham in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg later today.

A 1-0 loss against Spurs last month saw Liverpool go behind in their Carabao Cup semi-final tie, with the Reds needing to win by two goals to book their spot in the Carabao Cup final next month. The Reds enter the game on the back of a 2-0 win against Bournemouth in the Premier League, and recent history between Arne Slot's side and Spurs at Anfield falls in Liverpool's favour.

The last time the Reds lost at home to Spurs was way back in 2011, winning 10 and drawing four in that time. Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to miss out after picking up a muscle injury on the weekend, meaning Conor Bradley is expected to start at right-back.

So, can Liverpool book their spot in the Carabao Cup Final when they take on Spurs later today? Let's take a look...

We simulated Liverpool vs Spurs to get a score prediction

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that Liverpool could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Alisson; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Diaz.

We predict that Spurs could line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Kinsky; Porro, Danso, Davies, Spence; Bentancur, Bissouma, Bergvall; Kulusevski, Richarlison, Son.

Spurs had the chance to score early on when Ibrahima Konate's under-hit back pass was cut out by Richarlison, but one-on-one, the striker lacked composure as Alisson made a big save to keep the score level. After the miss, Liverpool took control, and with 24 minutes on the clock, the Reds took the lead.

Bradley dispossessed Heung-Min Son on the right, with the defender surging forward with the ball to kickstart a counterattack for the hosts. Bradley found Dominik Szoboszlai in the middle before continuing his run into the box, and the midfielder picked out the defender who fired home from close range to make it 1-0.

Just before the break, Richarlison had the ball in the net when he headed Dejan Kulusevski's deep cross in at the back post, but celebrations were cut short as the offside flag was raised. A few more chances evaded Ange Postecoglou's side as they looked to retake the aggregate lead, but with 18 minutes to go, it was Liverpool who went ahead in the tie.

A turnover in possession saw Slot's side hit Spurs on the break once again, with Mohamed Salah leading the charge through the middle. With options on either side, the Egyptian rolled the ball into the path of Luis Diaz on his right, and a powerful strike from the Colombian found the roof of the net to put Liverpool into a 2-0 lead on the night.

Fantastic game management from the Reds saw them limit Spurs' chances in the closing stages of the game, with Slot's side holding out to beat Spurs and advance to the Carabao Cup Final.

EA FC 25 predicted final score: Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham (Liverpool win 2-1 on aggregate)
