Six Arsenal players confirmed for permanent exits and seven on edge as Mikel Arteta clears decks
There is going to be something of an overhaul of players at Arsenal Football Club in the next few months. Whether it is this month or in the summer transfer window, a number of players are going to be leaving the club as Mikel Arteta looks to change his plans and overhaul his playing squad.
Arsenal are looking to sign a forward in the January transfer window, given long-term injuries to Bukayo Saka and now Gabriel Jesus. they are also looking at midfield changes, with Martin Zubimendi on the club's radar to sign.
But while they may only sign one or two players this month - if any at all - the summer is going to be a bigger priority for Arteta and an incoming sporting director to replace Edu.

Arsenal are second in the Premier League table - the same position they have finished the season in each of the last two campaigns - although this time they are behind Liverpool rather than Manchester City.
The gap is four points, although the Reds do have a game in hand, and the Gunners remain firmly in the title race this season. They should have a spot in the knockout stages of the Champions League too, providing they end the league phase well in their last two matches.
And that is where their focus will remain for the rest of the season. They were knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester United at the weekend, while they are 2-0 down in the Carabao Cup semi-final after their first leg with Newcastle United.
If they do not win a trophy this season, Arteta will be under pressure to improve his squad for a challenge on all fronts once more next season. In order to do so he may clear the decks somewhat at the Emirates Stadium.
Seven players are already confirmed to be leaving this summer, if they have not already departed by then.
Jorginho and Thomas Partey are out of contract in the summer, meaning they will leave the club for free, with no offers of new contracts forthcoming. Lazio have an obligation to buy Nuno Tavares at the end of his loan deal this summer.
Kieran Tierney could leave this month, with Celtic interested in bringing the left-back back to Scotland, but if that does not materialise he will also leave in the summer and the end of his contract in north London.
Meanwhile, two loanees will not be returning. Goalkeeper Neto has not had any game time as yet and will return to Bournemouth, while Raheem Sterling has struggled to tie down a permanent place in Arteta's team and will return to Chelsea.
Jakub Kiwior, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu are all members of the first team who could be for sale in the summer, alongside Albert Sambi Lokonga, Reiss Nelson, Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira, who have been on loan this season and could be for the exit door too.
