Sky Sports have hastily deleted a clip discussing Liverpool's victory over Manchester City following a complaint by Jamie Carragher over his words being 'twisted'. After the Reds' win, sealed by goals either side of half-time from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah, the former Liverpool centre-back claimed City would have a fight on their hands to finish in the top four.

"This season, Manchester City will not be winning the Premier League," he said on Super Sunday. "I don’t think there is any way back.

"It is almost a mini-crisis for Manchester City, and I think it’s reminiscent of Liverpool two years ago. I actually think Man City might have a fight on their hands for the top four."

However, a clip from Monday's Football Show saw presenter Rob Wotton present Carragher's comments to guests Stephen Warnock and Sue Smith. During the segment, the host appeared to claim that the Liverpool legend thought City would not finish inside the top four.

An enraged Carragher was not impressed though and called out the broadcast company on Twitter. Replying to the now deleted post, he wrote: "I said I fancied Arsenal and Chelsea to finish above City!

"They may have a fight on their hands for fourth but I’m confident they’ll get it. Not like the presenter to twist my words!!!"

In the aftermath, Sky Sports were quick to delete the post as to avoid any further backlash from Carragher or his supporters. Despite this brief fallout, Carragher is expected to be on Sky Sports this weekend when the Premier League returns following a round of midweek matches on Amazon Prime.
