Shaun Murphy had extra reason to celebrate his Masters victory - as it made him snooker's second highest earner this season.

The Magician scooped his first title at a Triple Crown event for a decade at Alexandra Palace, picking up a record purse of £350,000, almost doubling his season earnings to date - and moving him ahead of final opponent, and world champion, Kyren Wilson in the standings. Murphy still has some way to go to catch runaway leader Judd Trump however, who made history by becoming the first player to earn over £1m before Christmas.

Whilst Trump and Murphy have had plenty to celebrate, and splurge, snooker icon Ronnie O'Sullivan has watched his earnings plummet this season - as he battles with a lack of form and health troubles, dropping out of the top 10 according to data compiled by OLBG. The Rocket pulled out of defending his Masters crown, where he was due to face John Higgins, just 48 before the event was meant to get underway - and his season earnings sit at just £265,000 for the season. Down from over £1m last year.

A stunning year for Trump meanwhile has seen him win three tournaments - including lucrative events in both Saudi Arabia and Shanghai. The Ace in the Pack now says he fully focused on World Championship glory in May - with his winnings allowing him to pick and choose where he competes, which included dropping out of the Scottish Open in December. In 2024 world champion Kyren Wilson scooped £500,000 for victory at the Crucible, with Trump also closing in on a 100k bonus for being the first player to reach 100 centuries this season.

Trump is now up to third in the all-time career earning table too having won more than £9m - sitting behind just Scotland's John Higgins, also on £9m, and O'Sullivan - who has pocketed over £14m in prizemoney alone during his glittering career.
