Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s phone must have been buzzing with notifications following his appointment on Thursday morning.

Former team-mates were among the first to offer their congratulations, with Rio Ferdinand looking to take some of the credit.

Gary Neville foretold the day’s events, his concern swiftly dissipating once the announcement came through.

And not to pile on the pressure Ole, but it looks like Peter Schmeichel has some high expectations.

Add to that, Wayne Rooney keeping an eye on his former team. The DC United player, showing remarkable commitment to an early morning alarm, if he’s going to watch all of Manchester United’s matches over in the USA.

And it wasn’t long before the players got in on the act. Marcus Rashford offering his congratulations to the man who seems to have given the team a new lease of life.

Chris Smalling is one of many United stars who has enjoyed an upturn in form since Solskjaer returned to the club.

And Jesse Lingard showed off some creative photoshop skills in his congratulations to the gaffer.

For many, this announcement is no surprise, so it begs the question how long Match of the Day have had this video prepared and waiting for today’s news.
