Manchester City vs Tottenham: Social media reacts to incredible first half in Champions League tie
What an incredible first half it was in Manchester as Tottenham travelled to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City.
The UEFA Champions League is renowned for its stunning displays of drama, but this quarter-final second leg set a new landmark.
Five goals inside an unbelievable twenty first half minutes - including the fastest four goals in Champions League history - and Twitter exploded in reaction to the goal fest.
The Football Show presenter Lynsey Hipgrave couldn’t believe what she was seeing:
What am I watching, what is this?! 😂😂 #ManchesterCityTottenham

Gary Lineker tweeted this fine stat:
21 minutes is a record for the fastest 5 goals in a game in Champions League history. Previous record was 24 minutes: Dortmund v Legia Warsaw.

It’s fair to say Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling enjoys playing at the Etihad stadium:
26 - Raheem Sterling has been directly involved in more goals at the Etihad than any other Man City player this season (17 goals, 9 assists). Incredible. #MCITOT

But after the fast start, some were getting a bit impatient towards the end of the first half:

The half ended with Manchester City leading 3-2, needing just one goal in the second period to qualify.
