Somerset sign New Zealand seam bowler Matt Henry as overseas player
SOMERSET have re-signed New Zealand seam bowler Matt Henry for 11 weeks of the 2025 season.
The 33-year-old played for the county during the summer of 2023, taking 32 wickets in six Championship matches at an average of 16.18.
He was also the leading wicket-taker in the T20 Blast that season, with 31, and the player of the match in the final as Somerset claimed the silverware.

Henry will play for Somerset between April 7 and June 25, meaning he will be available for seven Championship matches and eight T20 Blast games.
“I loved everything about my time with Somerset and to top it off by winning the Blast was something pretty special,” Henry told the official Somerset website.
“Everyone made me and my family feel incredibly welcome, and the supporters were amazing.
“Hopefully I can repay the club’s faith in me by helping
Somerset achieve more success this summer.”
The former Derbyshire and Kent man plays for Canterbury in New Zealand and featured for Welsh Fire in The Hundred in 2024, as well as Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League.
Henry was among the Black Caps team that dismantled
England in the third Test match
in Hamilton last month and has played 135 games across all three formats for his national side,
taking 293 wickets.
Somerset director of cricket Andy Hurry said: “Matt is a world-class bowler, and we are delighted to be able to welcome back a player of his ability.
“He has a genuine affinity for this club and made a huge impact both on and off the field during his spell with us back in 2023.
“He understands what it means to represent Somerset and there is no doubt that the squad as a whole will benefit from his quality and experience.”
