Soulless feature of new Everton stadium revealed with major advantage clear
Everton have released footage of the away dressing room at the new stadium for the first time - and the contrast with the home one is stark.
While everyone - including the visiting players - will benefit from the move to a state-of-the-art venue, some will have it better than others.
And that was made strikingly clear with the first shots inside the away dressing room which, when compared to what the home players will have available to them, highlights an early attempt to gain an advantage even before the players step onto the pitch.

The latest images show the away team will have a much smaller, bland space to prepare in. Players will still have their own seats but the individual compartments and lockers that are well-spaced out inside the home dressing room look luxurious in comparison.
There is still a big screen and tactics board available to the travelling manager but they will have to stir passions in what may be the only soulless room in the iconic waterfront venue. The room is also square, limiting the ability for everyone to get the best view of each other.
The home dressing room is cavernous in comparison, the arced room featuring a counter in the middle from which tactical plans and rousing speeches can be delivered with everyone in sight. The padded seats and player spaces appear twice as large as in the away one and players will have their own lockers above their spots. The lighting is warmer while all the action will unfold under a giant Everton crest. The dressing rooms look like they are from different eras.
Everton’s new stadium is currently undergoing its fit-out after construction was completed by Laing O’Rourke, who passed the keys to the site to the club just before Christmas. The ground will host its first football match next month, when Everton Under-18s host Wigan U18s in a friendly, the first of three test events as the venue works towards its safety certificates. The game will take place before 10,000 supporters who will each witness history as Everton’s future takes another step towards becoming the present.
