Southampton vs Liverpool LIVE!
Liverpool travel to St Mary’s knowing a win will open up an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League. After Manchester City lost 4-0 at home to Tottenham on Saturday, Arne Slot’s side have a great opportunity to strengthen their title claims when they face bottom side Southampton.
The Reds have enjoyed a brilliant start to the season under Slot and will look to take full advantage of the latest slip-up by City. Victory on the south coast would leave Liverpool in a commanding position and make them strong favourites to win the title.
Southampton are finding life back in the Premier League tough and are four points adrift at the bottom of the table. Slot: Liverpool not distracted by ‘incredible fixtures’
13:37 , Giuseppe Muro
Arne Slot insists he will not get distracted by upcoming fixtures against Real Madrid and Manchester City.
Big fixtures are looming for Liverpool in the next 10 days - with Madrid due at Anfield on November 27 before City visit next weekend.
But Slot said that would have no effect on his team selection for the game away to Southampton.
”We indeed have incredible fixtures coming up, starting with Southampton," Slot said. "That is always by far the most important game. If we want to enjoy the other games the best thing you can do is always go in with a win.
"It has no effect at all on the team selection. What does have an effect is the playing style of Southampton, the players coming back from South America and the injuries we have. Those are the only things."

Slot has also been explaining his team selection at St Mary’s.
Asked whether his decision have been influenced by long trip for South American players during the international break, he told Sky Sports: “It does affect the players you pick.
“But it is not only about them having a lot trip. Hopefully we arrive many times in their box and then Darwin is a big threat.
“So it is not only about them playing in South America. But it is one of the reasons.”
"It's not going to be easy" 😤

Slot: City result 'does not mean that much' to Liverpool
13:14 , Giuseppe Muro
Arne Slot insists Manchester City’s latest slip-up yesterday “does not mean that much” to Liverpool.
Slot’s side can move eight points clear at the top of the Premier League win a win today but, speaking to Sky Sports pitchside before the game, he said: “The dropping of point of City does not mean that much to us.
“We have to come here and get the result. That should be a win but it is not going to be easy because Southampton, in my opinion, have played much better than the table shows us.”
Martin: Southampton can pull off Liverpool shock
13:05 , Giuseppe Muro
Bullish Southampton manager Russell Martin believes his side have a chance to upset Liverpool.
Arne Slot's Reds have won nine of their 11 league matches, scoring 21 times and conceding just six, while the Saints have only one victory and a draw to their name, with seven goals for and 21 against.
But Martin remains confident.
"I think we have real ways that if we stick to the game plan and stay brave and aggressive, then we have a chance against anyone," he said.
"(We have) to prepare as best we can and find a way to stop the opposition and impose our own game as much as we can.
"We have started with reviewing our own performances over the last however many months and however many games.
"Understanding what we've liked over the last few weeks has given us a platform to build on what we didn't like and what we need to be better at.
"It always starts with us and then, of course, we look at Liverpool and have a look at a few things that we can try and capitalise on.
"We also need to understand their threats, which they have a lot of. We have prepared the same way we prepare for every game."

So Arne Slot makes three changes, with Conor Bradley replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back and Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo in for Alexis Mac Allister and Luis Diaz.
For Southampton, Russell Martin has made five changes. Injured duo Aaron Ramsdale and Jan Bednarek miss out, while Ryan Manning, Joe Aribo and Cameron Archer drop to the bench.
Alex McCarthy comes in in goal, with Ryan Fraser, Flynn Downes, Tyler Dibling and Paul Onuachu returning.

Kelleher calls on Liverpool to keep foot on the gas
12:24 , Giuseppe Muro
Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has told his team-mates they cannot afford to ease off after opening up a gap at the top of the Premier League.
A game against a Southampton side bottom of the table with only one win to their name this season is clearly one Liverpool should be winning, but bigger challenges await in the coming days with Real Madrid due at Anfield in the Champions League on Wednesday before Manchester City visit next weekend.
"After this last international break it's quite intense now obviously with us playing every three days pretty much," said Kelleher, who will keep his place in goal in the continued absence of Alisson.
"We're not going to take anything for granted. I know maybe the outside is already making some noise about us being so far ahead in the league now, but we don't really think about that.
"We know we can't take our foot off the gas for one second because we'll get punished. Our focus is on Southampton first and then trying to get some wins."
