Southend United issue update after major internet outage affected 75 businesses
INTERNET has been restored at Roots Hall after a major outage affected around 75 businesses in Southend.
Southend United has confirmed internet service at its grounds has been fully restored following the "major" outage affecting the west of Southend.
A spokesman for the club said: "We appreciate the patience and understanding of our supporters during this disruption and thank the CityFibre engineers for their swift resolution of the issue.
"Normal operations, including the Ticket Office and club office phone lines, have resumed.
"We look forward to welcoming supporters to Roots Hall for this evening's Vanarama National League game against Aldershot Town."
South Essex Homes and some Southend Council buildings had also been affected by the outage, which the housing association first reported at 5pm yesterday.
The internet connection had been restored to most buildings by this morning.
Neil Madle, partnership manager for CityFibre said: “Our teams were on-site immediately and we can confirm that connections were restored on Tuesday, February 18. We'd like to thank the affected customers for their understanding and patience while we resolved the situation."
