Southport-born football coach Kieron Lovelady has landed a dream role in Turkey with Adana Demirspor in the country's top-flight. The 27-year-old is now one of the youngest coaches at elite-level football in Europe's top-10 divisions.

Lovelady follows new head coach Mustafa Alper Avci to southern Turkey after working with the 43-year-old at Manchester City's academy. The football coach played for Southport Trinity as a junior before transitioning into coaching with roles at Southport FC, Warrington Town under-21s and graduated from Robbie Fowler's football academy - where he was a head coach.

In recent years, the Southport local has been coaching at the Premier League champions as a foundation phase lead coach between the under-nine's and under-14s. On Thursday, he was announced as part of a coaching set-up appointed to help Demirspor begin their fight against relegation - with the club at the foot of the table with five points, 16 clear off safety.

He joins Avci's coaching set-up, who has managed several clubs in his native Turkey, alongside Dean Holden - who left Steven Gerrard's backroom staff at Al-Ettifaq in November.

Lovelady will be in the dugout for clashes against some of the country's biggest clubs, with Galatasaray on the horizon when they visit the Istanbul giants on February 8.

However, he has narrowly missed the chance to be in the opposing dugout to former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho after the Portuguese tactician's side ran out 4-0 winners in the reverse fixture in mid-January.

Despite his tender age, the 27-year-old is well-respected within football coaching circles, earning success with Fowler's academy alongside Carl Macauley, as well as being under the tutelage of the iconic Liverpool number nine.

He will likely hit the headlines for the landmark step into professional football before the age of 30, with his first taste of Turkish football coming against Kasimpasa on Sunday (February 2).

"It’s an incredible opportunity to be part of Adana Demirspor’s first-team set-up," he said on the move. "I’m excited to contribute to the club’s ambitions and continue my development as a coach at the highest level.

"I’m grateful for the experiences that have brought me to this point and look forward to embracing this new challenge."
