Former Arsenal academy prospect Jaidon Anthony has been showered in praise after his winning goal for Burnley against Watford in the Championship.

Anthony had spent a decade in the Arsenal academy before being released by the Gunners in 2016. He came through the academy with the likes of Emile Smith-Rowe and Reiss Nelson, both of whom are now at fellow Premier League side Fulham.

Unfortunately for Anthony, he didn't get the opportunity to sign a professional deal with the Gunners, bringing an end to his ten year stint with the club. Following this, the 25-year-old went on trial at Bournemouth who wasted no time in snapping him up.

Anthony shone under Scott Parker in the 2021/22 season. The English winger played a vital role for the Cherries in securing automatic promotion back to the Premier League. Now, he has been reunited with Parker in the Championship at Burnley, where once again, they are fighting for those automatic promotion spots.

“When I went to Bournemouth, Jaidon had been rejected by Arsenal, was in the under-21s and the minute I saw him, the thing that stood out was his character and what he gives,” said Parker.

“As a coach, he is a seven out of 10 every week, and at times, he’s nines and 10s. You have a baseline with him and you have seen that over the course of this season, really.

“Look, if there is one name of all the players I have coached over my career, Jaidon Anthony is right up there.”

The winger is only on loan at Turf Moore, having also spent last season on loan with Leeds United in the second tier of English football. Though Bournemouth are doing exceptionally well in the Premier League, currently residing in fifth, Cherries boss Andoni Iraola will be keeping a close eye on Anthony.
