Steelers come from behind to beat winless Dolphins

The Pittsburgh Steelers came from behind to beat the Miami Dolphins 27-14 on Monday Night Football.

At the end of the first quarter the Steelers were actually 14-0 down, with a rare victory potentially on the cards for the winless Dolphins. Unfortunately for Miami, reality kicked in and the Steelers scored 27 unanswered points to take their record to 3-4.

Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph stuttered in the opening stages of the game, as did the Steelers defense, but as the game progressed Mike Tomlin’s men got their act together to record their third win of the season.

Key to to the result was wideout Juju Smith-Schuster, who caught five passes for 103 yards and a touchdown. On the same amount of receptions, Diontae Johnson also got a touchdown to add to his 84 yards, while James Conner was the real highlight with 145 rushing yards (just two short of his career best) and a touchdown.

For the Dolphins, a bright start turned into more of the same. Ryan Fitzpatrick did his best, with 190 yards and two touchdown passes, but Miami’s wide receivers coughed up chances and former Dolphin Minkah Fitzpatrick picked off his old team twice.

The Dolphins maintain their customary position propping up the AFC East, with the Steelers sitting in second in the AFC North. Pittsburgh have the Cleveland Browns next up, with the Dolphins hosting the Jets.
