Stephen Bunting was amusingly freaked-out by moth after a chaotic “pub” start to his clash with Raymond van Barneveld.

The eagerly-anticipated opening quarter-final at the Dutch Darts Masters descended into a farcical beginning in Den Bosch.

Bunting missed nine darts at doubles and bust his score twice before Barney took the leg in 22 darts.

Incredibly, the mishaps came after the pair hit 180s with their first visits of the match.

As the duo blundered around amid the catalogue of errors, ITV commentator Dan Dawson opined: “This is turning into a bit of a pub leg!”

In leg two, the Dutchman then managed to bust 136 after hitting two treble twenties and then sticking his dart into double 11 instead of double eight.

The comedy continued in the third leg when, as he took his darts out of the board following a visit, Bunting was spooked and recoiled backwards after a moth sprung from beside the board, zipped straight into his face and smacked against his glasses.

Barney still had time to then bust in exactly the same fashion as he did before when going for double eight as, once again, he fired too high and hit double 11. Again.

Bizarrely, within all the madness, Bunting and Barney hit 15 maximums in 10 legs in a match which at times defied logic as they also missed over 30 darts at doubles.

It went all the way in the end before The Bullet snared the decider to win 6-5 and move into the semi-finals.
