Sterling dropped, Trossard earns successive start - Arsenal line ups vs Aston Villa
Arsenal face Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, with a chance to avenge the defeat which cost the Gunners the title in the previous season.
Unai Emery will be wanting to take another victory from Mikel Arteta as his side look for revenge after Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey scored at Villa Park earlier in the campaign. However, both that win and the North London Derby success will have emboldened the Gunners too.

But what should the Arteta do to face Aston Villa on Saturday? Our football.london writers have their say on what they would do…

Mikel Arteta was not giving much away when it came to team news and therefore I am minded, perhaps like him, not to take too many risks when it comes to choosing the team. I am also mindful that a home tie with Dinamo Zagreb next week should allow for some rotation and there is some comfort in starting many of those who played against Tottenham.
I am making just one change from that team with Raheem Sterling dropping to the bench. His performance appeared to split fans who realised a better level being shown but still not enough to convince everyone that starting games is the correct pathway forwards.
In his place should be Leandro Trossard who scored of course against Tottenham and will hopefully be emboldened by that. As mentioned the team effectively picks itself with chances for Mikel Merino, Jorginho and perhaps some of the returning injured players coming in too.
Canton’s Arsenal XI vs Aston Villa: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Partey, Rice, Odegaard; Martinelli, Havertz, Trossard.

It's a big game for Arsenal this weekend - and closely followed by the return of the Champions League on Wednesday, which throws up a few possible issues for the Gunners.
That said, a home clash against Dinamo Zagreb should hopefully be fairly straightforward, so I'd be prioritising the game against Aston Villa if we're talking about the strongest XI possible.
David Raya starts in goal, and it's a central duo of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes as usual. While Riccardo Calafiori may be looking to return to the squad, he's not fully fit yet so Myles Lewis-Skelly starts again at left-back, and Jurrien Timber continues on the right.
I think the midfield worked well against Spurs. That said, maybe there's room for some rotation here; I'd start Jorginho in the No.6 role, giving Thomas Partey a break. Then it's Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard in the No.8 positions.
In attack, I'll make one change as well. Gabriel Martinelli starts over Raheem Sterling. Catching Villa on the counter could be key, and Martinelli is arguably the Gunners' greatest asset when it comes to that.
Joe's XI: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Jorginho, Rice, Odegaard; Trossard, Martinelli, Havertz.
