Stevenage have announced that tickets are ‘selling fast’ for their Boxing Day home clash against Wycombe Wanderers.

The Chairboys travel to the Lamex Stadium unbeaten in 18 league games as they close in on their EFL record of 21 matches without defeat, which was set in the 2005/06 season.

Whilst the game will more than likely not be a sell-out, it is expected to be one of Boro’s highest-attended fixtures this campaign.

Their largest crowd in the league was against Wrexham in the autumn, as 5,704 people saw them beat the newly promoted side 1-0.

The club’s highest-attended game this calendar year was against Cambridge United at the end of the 2023/24 season, when 6,553 packed themselves into the Lamex.

Despite Wycombe flying high and with Stevenage in mid-table, the Hertfordshire-based club have become a bit of a bogey team for the Chairboys.

Wanderers have only won one of their five matches against Wednesday’s opponents, with their last league triumph coming in May 2018.

This was on the final day of the league season which saw the Adams Park team get presented with a shield after clinching promotion to League One a week earlier at Chesterfield.

Wycombe won 1-0 with now manager Matt Bloomfield scoring the winner.

You will have to go back to August 2014 for the Chairboys' last win away at the Lamex in the league, with Wycombe recording a 3-1 triumph just over a decade ago.

Paul Hayes, Peter Murphy and Matt McClure all scored for Wanderers, with Darius Charles striking for Stevenage.

Wycombe’s last win at the Lamex in any capacity came last year, as a Sam Vokes header gave Wanderers a 1-0 victory in the EFL Trophy.
