A busy January window for Stirling Albion has continued as the club announced the signature of three new additions to the end of the season.

It's a continuation of the youth movement through the club, with former Celtic youth captain MacKenzie Carse the final addition to a group with impressive pedigree.

The 21-year-old's capture was officially announced earlier this morning after he departed a stint with Northern Irish Premiership side Coleraine and has racked up more than 50 appearances for the young Hoops, including in the UEFA Youth League.

Stirling boss Alan Maybury revealed his delight in Carse's capture - and said they had won out amidst significant interest for the midfielder.

Maybury told the club's website: “MacKenzie is a top midfielder who came through Celtic’s Academy to captain their B team.

“He has played a lot of games for a young player and we are excited he has chosen to come to Stirling as there was a lot of clubs interested in him. I look forward to working with him at Stirling Albion."

The pen ink has been heavily used in the last 24 hours at Forthbank, with Carse's arrival quickly following on the back of the signing to the end of the season of ex-Alloa full back Euan Deveney.

Deveney, 22, had impressed as a trialist in the Binos' last two matches against Peterhead and Bonnyrigg Rose and also boasts time at clubs including Falkirk, Clyde and a strong spell at Airdrieonians.

Maybury continued: “Euan has featured as a trialist in the last couple of games.

"For a young player, he has good experience, mainly at a higher level, and his versatility, quality and attitude we feel will be an asset in the second half of the season.

The third new face is another youngster - 17-year-old Scott Constable, who arrives on loan from Dundee United until the end of the season.

The teenager has been a regular face for the Terrors' B side, before being given two senior team appearances by United boss Jim Goodwin at the tail end of United's promotion-winning Championship season.

Constable became the second-youngest player to feature in a senior match for the Arabs, making his debut aged just 16 years and 11 days as a second-half substitute against Airdrieonians.

The Binos will be hoping his stint at the club will resemble the success they have had with loan players from Tannadice in the recent past, with winger Kai Fotheringham and full-back Flynn Duffy starring in their title-winning League Two campaign two seasons ago.

Amidst all of the new faces, Stirling finished off their signing splurge by locking up two of their own to new deals after impressive first senior seasons.

Midfielders Cooper Knox and Aaron Weir have both been rewarded with 18 month deals at the club - with Maybury quick to insist it shows the pathway being made available for young players at Albion.

He continued: “Last summer the club underwent a restructure of their youth development programme.

"The aim was to create a better pathway to the first team, and we are already seeing the success of that as we announce Cooper Knox and Aaron Weir have signed professional contracts.

“It is just reward for the boys’ dedication, attitude, willingness to learn but also their performances in the first team.

“Cooper has been on the pitch in nearly every match this season. He is versatile, athletic and made a positive contribution every time he has played. We are delighted to have him signed up and part of the future of the club.

“Aaron Weir is another who has made a big contribution to the team this season. We are delighted he has signed his contract which is reward for his dedication, professionalism and drive to learn and improve.

“Both players are a great example for the rest of the Academy and hopefully part of Stirling Albion for many years to come.”
