The story behind Warrington Rylands' biggest league win of the season
WARRINGTON Rylands maintained their unbeaten run with a convincing dismantling of Bamber Bridge.
Blues achieved their biggest league win of the season, 4-0, at the SFC Stadium.
All of their goals came in the first half and were bagged mostly by their increasingly familiar scoring suspects.
Alex Kiwomya's fourth goal in six matches in the 15th minute set Neil Reynolds' side on their way to a ninth successive unbeaten outcome in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.
Only five minutes later Jake Daniels doubled the advantage and Bridge, who dropped into the relegation zone due to this loss and results elsewhere, were facing a mountain to climb.
It got steeper in the 35th minute when Jake Burton notched his fifth goal in eight games.
And if that wasn't enough for a positive team talk at the break, Ben Hardcastle sent the troops into the dressing room on a high with his 11th goal in 18 games on the 45-minute mark.
Thanks to this success, Rylands climbed two places to 11th in a tightly packed mid-table.
'A special day' for Warrington Rylands manager
Preston native Reynolds was on familiar ground having played for and managed Bamber Bridge earlier in his career.
And he explained the game fell on a significant weekend for him and his family and while they were able to mark it in the right way, he admits he took little satisfaction in the way his current charges ripped through his old side before the break.
"It was a special win at a special club on a special day for me," he said.
"It’s two years since my Dad passed, and he was a big Bamber Bridge fan.
"My Mum came to her first football game – in 80 years she’s never been – my Aunt and Uncle were here, my daughter and my son as well.
"It was a special weekend for me and this club is in my heart – I was here for a long, long time.
"Doing what we did in the first half, I don’t take any satisfaction out of it – they just came up against us on a really good 45 minutes.
"It doesn’t take anything away from Bamber Bridge – I still think they’re a really good side and they showed that in the second half.
"I’m sure they’ll turn it around but today was our day. We were exceptional all over the park."
