Striker Muhamed Tijani is on target to action for Plymouth Argyle early next month after being ruled out by a long-term hamstring injury.

The 24-year-old has not played for the Pilgrims since late September, and has only made one start and two substitute appearances since joining on a season-long loan from Czech Republic club Slavia Prague last July. Argyle head coach Miron Muslic believes the powerful Nigerian forward is exactly the type of player the Pilgrims have been missing and believes Tijani can be a benefit to the team when he is available for selection again.

Muslic said: "This is some positive news that will not maybe help us over the next seven, eight, nine days but mid-term. Muhamed has the green light so he is now in his integration phase towards the team.

"He's in a good way, and you just see the profile of Muhamed, that's a big lad, a very physical number nine, and that's exactly I think the player we miss for our game. A clear target player, like QPR had it with (Michael) Frey.

"In moments of stress, in moments of danger in the build-up you can always go to the target player. He can keep the ball, he can link up the game and that's something we miss, and TJ will give us this opportunity.

"Don't forget, we have to be patient with him. He was out for almost the whole season so he will need a little bit of integration time, but we can take a benefit out of him for sure."

Ryan Hardie is Argyle's only recognised striker available for the Championship clash with Burnley at Home Park tonight (8pm) because the on-loan Michael Obafemi cannot cannot play against his parent club.

Michael Baidoo has made two of his three starts since signing for the Pilgrims as a forward but he is more of an attacking midfield player, which is the position he took up for the 1-0 home defeat by Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Muslic confirmed that the reason why on-loan Leeds United midfielder Darko Gyabi was substituted at half-time against QPR was not injury-related.

Muslic said: "That was a tactical decision. I also told him he could do it better. I also told him the next chance to show me this, that he can do it better, is Wednesday night (against Burnley), so Darko will be there."
