Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, who has scored 10 goals in 14 appearances so far this season, says he wants to reunite with Arne Slot at some point in the future though it isn't clear if Liverpool would be interested in signing him.

Gimenez played 85 games under Slot in the Netherlands, scoring 49 goals and registering 11 assists in that period. Last summer, his form prompted Nottingham Forest to attempt to sign him but he rejected that move in favor of waiting for a bigger club.

Asked by Fox Sports (via Soccer News) if he expects to play for Slot again, Gimenez said: "Yes, absolutely. Football is always about meeting the same familiar faces again and that is the beauty of this world. You leave an impression, make friends all over the world, and later you see each other again, greet each other and meet again."

Liverpool might need to consider signing a number nine in 2025 with question marks remaining over Darwin Nunez's suitability and Diogo Jota's injury record. Luis Diaz has been playing through the center but his natural position is off the left, while Cody Gakpo, who played in the middle under Jurgen Klopp, has been used exclusively out wide by Slot.

Gimenez, 23, was born in Argentina but he represents the Mexican national team. Prior to this season, he had only ever missed four matches through injury, though in 2024/25, the South American has sat out of 12 games with a thigh issue.

Liverpool.com says: Gimenez looks like a really talented striker. Players in that position can be hit and miss when they move to England but Slot would be well-placed to know if he was the right fit for Liverpool. If a spot opened up at the top end of the pitch for the Reds, he could be a strong option to consider.
