Emotional Stuart Bingham broke down in tears after losing to Neil Robertson in the final of snooker's World Grand Prix.

Ball-run had stunned Judd Trump in front of his home crowd in the semi-finals, but the 2015 world champion found himself on the wrong end of a 10-0 final whitewash against Aussie ace Robertson. But speaking straight after the match on TNT Sport, the 2020 Masters winner struggled to keep his emotions in check after a difficult week off the table that saw him compete just hours after his uncle had passed away.

Bingham said: "My goal was to get to the final, if someone had said before the week I’d get to the final and get beaten 10-0 I’d probably have gone no. Let me have a frame. But my final was against Judd, that was a big match for me to get in the Players’ Championship.

"Hats off to Neil, he played well, but can I just say a few words to the sponsors and the crowd who have been unbelievable all week." He then could be seen holding back the tears before composing himself and continuing: "It’s been a good week on the table for me, but I’d just like to shout out to Jack Lisowski (who was forced to withdraw from the Grand Prix for personal reasons). I’m feeling for you mate.

"To my friend Lee Farebrother, I feel for all of you. My long-term coach passed away this week and my uncle Ray passed away this morning. It ain’t been a good week off the table. So a shoutout to them guys.

"I’ve got to try and take the positives. Telford in a few weeks time I’ve got to look forward to now. I’ll be after Neil. I want Neil in the draw, he ain’t going to beat me 10-0 then."

Classy Robertson paid tribute to Bingham, adding: "With all the hard work I'd been putting in, some big results were around the corner. A lot went my way, I started off really well but after that I really did steal quite a good few frames.

"On another day it could've easily been 5-5 after 10 frames. I'm glad to see Stuart back in a final and pushing back into the top 16 again."
