Scott Twine has admitted he plans to look at himself to see how he could have helped Bristol City "create more chances" and "score more goals" following the Robins' "annoying" draw with QPR.

The Robins missed the chance to secure a first win in three Championship matches as Twine's second-half free-kick was cancelled out when Paul Smyth beat Max O'Leary to a clearance on the halfway line before stroking into an empty net from some 40 yards out.

Saturday afternoon's draw means Liam Manning's side missed the chance to close the gap to the play-off positions in a week that also saw them let a one-goal lead slip away to Sunderland in the 93rd minute at the Stadium of Light.

Although illness ruled Twine out of the clash in the North East, the 25-year-old felt as though the second half against QPR almost summed up where the Reds had gone wrong so far this term.

"To come in and not get the win is really annoying for all of us," Twine told City's media team after the full-time whistle. "We should have done so much better after going 1-0 up and then when it goes to 1-1, we had a few scrappy moments where we could have scored but we didn't really look as dangerous as we should. We're not happy in there and we feel like we could have got the win.

"Just in the final third the last pass the last action needs to be so much better, so much smoother. When we dominate the ball like we did, we need to score more goals than we did today and yeah a frustrating one.

"As an attacking player, I need to look at myself and look at what I could have done to create more chances, score more goals and get on the ball more and try and affect the game more. I haven't actually seen it back yet, it's still fresh but it's a frustrating one that I'm really annoyed about.

"I think it's almost summed up our season a little bit so far. We've been really good in games but just not managed to get over the line for the win too many times this season."

Though the manner of QPR's equaliser left a sour taste in the mouth of everyone inside Ashton Gate, there was an awful lot to like about the Reds' performance as they put Marti Cifuentes' side to the sword and dominated for the majority of the match.

Perhaps the best moment of the entire game was when Twine took to the field and curled home a delightful second-half free-kick with his first touch of the ball, leaving Rangers keeper Paul Nardi rooted to his goalline like a statue in the process. While the attacking midfielder was disappointed his strike didn't prove to be the winner, the 25-year-old did admit he was keen to get on the field quickly to take the free-kick.

"I always wanted that, as soon as the free-kick was given I said to the gaffer can I be put on," explained the former Burnley man. "It was nice to score but annoying that it didn't count towards a win.

"There's still a long way to go, there's still god knows how many points to play for so we're going to keep trying, keep going and hopefully we can get a run together where it all starts to fall our way."

With the busy festive period on the horizon, Twine and the rest of his Robins teammates don't have to wait too long until they're back in action, with a trip to The Hawthorns to face West Brom next on the agenda before games against Luton Town and Portsmouth follow between Christmas and New Year.
