Sunderland AFC fans are being invited to celebrate a historic moment in the club's history.

The club is marking the 40th anniversary of its Milk Cup run in 1985 with a special event featuring key players from that remarkable journey.

Hosted by ex-BBC Look North presenter Jeff Brown, the event will take place at The Peacock pub in the city centre on Monday, March 17, at 7:30pm.

Tickets, priced at £10, with proceeds going to the Foundation of Light, Sunderland AFC’s charity.

The evening will see players such as striker David Hodgson, goalkeeper Chris Turner, and centre-back Gary Bennett recount their thrilling journey to the final.

Fans will hear stories of Sunderland's triumph over top-tier teams like Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane, Watford, and Nottingham Forest, as well as the semi-final victory over Chelsea amid the infamous crowd violence at Stamford Bridge.

The second half of the event will shift focus to the final against Norwich City, featuring a special conversation with teenage defender David Corner, who will reflect on the moment Norwich’s winning goal changed his life forever.

The event promises to be a nostalgic evening for Sunderland fans, offering unique insights into a pivotal moment in the club’s history.
