The Sunderland player who had "day to forget" - and one who was a "bystander" in draw
How did the players fare in Sunderland's 2-2 draw with Plymouth Argyle?
SUNDERLAND (4-1-4-1):
5 Patterson: Should have dealt with Plymouth’s opener and might well have been more decisive in the closing stages
7 HUME: The pick of Sunderland’s players as he claimed a goal and an assist – was always looking to get on the front foot
4 Mepham: A day to forget for the centre-half – his error handed the ball to Hardie for Plymouth’s opener
5 O’Nien: Was nowhere near commanding enough late on, with his poor header handing the ball back to Plymouth for their winner
6 Cirkin: Tried to drive forward whenever possible, although he didn’t always get tight enough to his opponent
5 Samed: Neat and tidy as he made his first Sunderland start, but will face much tougher defensive tests as the season progresses
6 Roberts: Came inside on a number of occasions in the first half, but failed to seriously threaten the Plymouth goal
6 Neil: Was involved in most of Sunderland’s best moves before the break – moved forward into a more attacking midfield role
4 Bellingham: Was a bystander for long periods of the game – couldn’t get on the ball in the final third
7 Le Fee: Displayed some nice touches down the left-hand side and his set-piece delivery was generally good
6 Isidor: Produced a brilliant volleyed finish to claim his ninth goal of the season and fire Sunderland level
Subs:
5 Mayenda (for Samed, 61): Lacked a bit of composure in the closing stages as Sunderland’s attacking became frantic
Ballard (for Cirkin, 80)
Rigg (for Roberts, 80)
Hjelde (for Isidor, 89)
