Premier League side Leicester City have appeared to confirm the signing of Arsenal youngster Bless Akolbire with the player being named in the club’s Under-21 list submitted to the Premier League.

Teams were required to submit their updated 25-man Premier League squads to the Premier League following the January transfer window. While there is a limit of 25 places for players born before January 1, 2003, there are unlimited spaces on the Under-21 list for players born after that date.

On the squad lists published by the Premier League last week, 18-year-old Akolbire appears on the U21 squad list of Leicester, and has been left out of Arsenal’s list. The midfielder has made three appearances for Leicester’s U18 team, most recently playing 75 minutes in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat against Chelsea.

He played for Leicester’s U18s on a trial basis against Tottenham back in November, before returning to Arsenal and featuring for the Gunners in the U18 Premier League clash against West Ham United. But it seems that a move to Leicester has now been completed.

Akolbire has been part of first team training with Arsenal before, having been spotted in pictures as the team prepared for the Champions League clash against RC Lens last season. He joined the club from Colchester United as a schoolboy and signed scholarship terms in 2022.

The teenager will now look to take the next step in his career at Leicester, where he will look to impress manager Ruud van Nistelrooy. The former striker has been open about his wish to assess the young talent in the Leicester squad and give them a chance to impress in the first team environment.
