Surprise target set for January transfer after having 'suitcase ready' for Liverpool
Having claimed to have been close to a dream transfer to Liverpool during the summer, Cesar Huerta looks as though he could get a move to Europe soon.
The Mexican forward was a surprise link with the Reds earlier this year, with reports in Central America claiming back in August that the Anfield club was eyeing up the Pumas UNAM star.
In fact, Huerta himself seemed to confirm that there was more than just interest from Liverpool, having insisted he had been ready to make the move to Merseyside before the deal collapsed. Reports at the time suggested the Reds wanted to send the striker out on loan to Sunderland, but Black Cats boss Regis Le Bris didn’t give the green light.

"There was an issue," Huerta told AS in September. "I had my suitcase ready, but it fell through because of an issue.
"I know that sooner or later, if I keep doing things right, I'll get the opportunity. I know it's a train that only comes once and I'm focused on Pumas."
Although that train might not be coming in for Huerta now, he does look as though he might be set to make the move to Europe very soon.
According to Mexican outlet Super Deportivo, Pumas have two offers on the table from Spanish side Osasuna and Belgium’s Anderlecht. Huerta is said to prefer the latter, and is already in advanced negotiations with the Brussels club.
Pumas are keen to recoup a transfer fee for the 24-year-old, with a transfer looking like it could be finalized soon in January.
If Huerta does complete his move to Europe, it will be interesting to see whether Liverpool keeps an eye on him with the thought of revisiting their supposed interest in the future.
Shedding more light on why the move to Anfield didn’t go ahead for Huerta, Pumas president Luis Raul Gonzalez Perez said: "It had nothing to do with the club or his intention.
"On the contrary, they recognized the qualities of Huerta. External circumstances of the teams themselves meant it could not materialize. I repeat, not because of the quality of Huerta, but because of external circumstances."
