I was surprised Daniel Farke did not strengthen his Leeds United squad in the transfer window
EFL expert Sam Parkin has expressed his surprise over Leeds United's lack of transfer business in the winter window. The Championship leaders and Bristol City were the only clubs in the second tier of English football not to bring in reinforcements before the market closed on Monday.
The Whites tried to strengthen their attacking options but failed with a loan bid for Southampton striker Cameron Archer. They also considered a move for Adam Armstrong, who eventually joined West Bromwich Albion.
Former Luton Town striker Parkin told the the Championship Check In Show: “I think when there is a transfer window in the middle of the season, despite Leeds’ lofty position, [I am] still a little bit surprised this morning that they have not done one or two bits of business.

“Yes, they have got one of the strongest squads in the division, so Daniel Farke will know better than me the nick of the squad, how the depth is looking and obviously in the aftermath of that win [against Cardiff City] maybe did not see the necessity. Still a little bit surprised; that would be my overriding feeling.”
In an impassioned defence of his club's inactivity, manager Daniel Farke said he was unperturbed by all of the Whites' direct rivals strengthening in the window. "I don't like to do really late business because there's lots of madness and craziness and players are offered by agents to 20 different clubs across Europe. The player signs a contract and his first comment is that it's a childhood dream to play at this club. I don't believe in this.
"If you analyse all the top leagues – Liverpool, was there business in the last days of the window? Not at all. Bayern Munich? Nothing. Real Madrid? No incomings. I'm quite delighted, I have to say."
