Sven Botman makes his Premier League return for Newcastle United's clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after nine months out.

The Dutchman last played in March 2024, when the Magpies bowed out of the FA Cup away to Manchester City. Botman replaced the suspended Swiss star Fabian Schar who picked up a ban after his booking at Manchester United in the final game of last year.

Newcastle ace Botman has played in the club's Under-21s against Chelsea before Christmas and in a practice game behind closed doors. The ex-Ajax youth product slots into a defensive rearguard with fellow left-footer Dan Burn.

Eddie Howe also named Tino Livramento in from the start with Kieran Trippier benched. Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton and Sandro Tonali were named as Howe's three-man engine team. Anthony Gordon, Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak led the line again for the Magpies.

Before the game Howe had said: "Sven has worked incredibly hard to get himself in a good condition. He's had three games, a lot of internal training as well.

"He's certainly in and around my thoughts. I'll have to make a decision on who I think best fits that position. It is great to have Sven in and around and available again."

With Schar banned for the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Arsenal, it could be back to back games for the former Lille star.

NEWCASTLE UNITED: Dubravka, Livramento, Botman, Burn, Hall; Tonali, Bruno, Joelinton; Gordon, Murphy, Isak.
