Swansea City bulletin as Williams criticises 'allotment' pitch, player leaves and transfer windfall incoming
Swansea City head coach Luke Williams says the club need to sort out their 'allotment' pitch.
The state of the playing surface in SA1 was an issue back in the 2020/21 season when the turf was completely ripped up due to a disease, the club said at the time.
As a result things improved but in the past few weeks problems have reared their head again, with the ground layer during the match against Sheffield United on Tuesday showing significant signs of wear and tear. Sign up to our Swansea City newsletter here.

Williams has now called on the club to act.
"We need to sort that out - we can't go on with that," the Swansea head coach said. "It was like walking across an allotment at the end of the game.
"That's got nothing to do with the ground staff, by the way. It's just the volume of traffic that the pitch has had on it with football and rugby. The climate has also been challenging."
Swansea share the pitch with rugby club the Ospreys, who will be moving to St Helen's for the 2025/26 season. In the meantime, however, the turf will continue to experience heavy use.
Williams suggested that the turf upgraded four years ago has now come to the end of its natural expiration. "The artificial stuff that is woven into the pitch has a lifespan," he said.
"Once you kick that stuff out, no matter how much sunshine or ultraviolet light or watering you give it, artificial grass doesn't grow back."
Meanwhile, Swansea have confirmed that midfielder Azeem Abdulai has completed his move to Leyton Orient for an undisclosed fee.
Abdulai, 22, was probably a victim of his own versality during his time at the club, switched from position to position without ever really nailing down a home. Williams wished his former player all the best in his next endeavours.

"I think he will play more probably as a box-to-box midfield player there," said the Swansea head coach.
"I am sure he will do really well. There were just too many obstacles in the way for him [in that position] here.
"He did a good job in the wide positions for us but he's not exactly the perfect fit. When a player has the urge to go and a club comes in and gives him that opportunity, it's difficult to keep the player in a good place, so it was the right thing to do."
And finally, Swansea are set for a transfer windfall with the news former Swans striker Kyle Joseph has completed a move from Blackpool to Hull City.
Joseph has headed to the Tigers for a fee of around £2.5million. When he left Swansea for the Tangerines, the deal included a sell-on clause, meaning a percentage of the fee the Humberside club are paying for the 23-year-old will go to Swansea.
