Swansea City linked with £4m Man City midfielder following Matt Grimes exit
Swansea City are reportedly on the brink of signing Manchester City's young midfielder Jacob Wright.
According to football reporter Fabrizio Romano, the Swans have beaten Middlesbrough in securing the player's signature, swiftly moving for Wright — and Melker Widell who has been loaned back to Danish side Aalborg BK — following the departure of former club captain Matt Grimes.
Discontent has swirled around the Swansea.com Stadium this week, with Grimes' shock move to Coventry City causing unrest and a 5-1 defeat by Norwich City last weekend adding fuel to the fire. Sign up to our Swansea City newsletter here.

Manager Luke Williams, whose side take on Grimes's Coventry this afternoon, will be desperate to lift the mood with both incomings over the next few days and an upturn in results.
And Romano suggests that Swansea have won the race for Man City youngster Wright, who has had limited first-team exposure. The 19-year-old defensive midfielder is thought to be valued at £4m, with City ready to sanction his exit.
Boro were also rumoured to be chasing the England youth international, but it's the Swans who appear to be closing in on a deal.
Having been unable to break into Pep Guardiola's plans — although he does have four first-team appearances to his name — a permanent transfer appears to be a more favourable option for the Premier League champions.
