Swansea City have sacked manager Luke Williams after a woeful run of form.

Defeat to Stoke City at the weekend saw the Swans fall to an eighth loss in their last 10 games in all competitions, with the club deciding on Monday to part ways with the 44-year-old.

Assistant head coach Ryan Harley and first-team coach analyst George Lawtey have also followed Williams out of the exit door, leaving the club with immediate effect, while Alan Sheehan has been put in interim charge.

Sheehan was previously placed in temporary charge at the Swansea.com Stadium following Michael Duff's sacking last season, and oversaw a run of three wins from seven matches. However, the club are now looking for a permanent replacement, with a number of names already linked to the job.

The latest odds from SkyBet show that Des Buckingham is the early favourite at 3/1. The 40-year-old was sacked by Oxford United in a surprise move in December, seven months after leading them to the Championship via the League One play-offs.

Buckingham - who formerly coached Wellington Phoenix and Mumbai City - has also been touted as a potential candidate to take over at Blackburn Rovers and last summer was linked with taking over from Rob Page as Wales manager.

Following close behind Buckingham is a name that will pique the interest of Swans fans, with former manager Russell Martin priced at 6/1 odds. The 39-year-old, who led Swansea to mid-table finishes in his two years in charge, has been out of work since being sacked by Premier League side Southampton in December, having led them to promotion last season.

A return to SA1 for Martin would likely be welcomed by much of the Swansea fanbase, but after the man himself publicly expressed frustrations at the lack of backing he received in the transfer market while at the club, he may have reservations about such a move.

Also linked is former Luton Town boss Rob Edwards (12/1), who was sacked by the Kenilworth Road club earlier this month. While he left the Hatters with the club just outside the Championship relegation zone, the former Wales international famously led them to the Premier League for the first time ever in 2023.

Sheehan is also named as a potential candidate to take charge of the Swans on a permanent basis (12/1), with former Bournemouth and Wolves boss Gary O'Neil priced at the same odds. Club legend Alan Tate (16/1) has also been linked, having previously taken caretaker charge of the Swans in 2021 and served under Steve Cooper at Leicester City and Nottingham Forest.

Other names linked include former Tottenham Hotspur interim head coach Ryan Mason (16/1), ex-Stuttgart and Hoffenheim boss Pellegrino Matarazzo (20/1) and former Plymouth Argyle and Preston North End manager Ryan Lowe (20/1).

Further down the list, former Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Leicester first team coach Brian Barry-Murphy and Leyton Orient manager Richie Wellens are all priced at 25/1 odds, as are former Swans boss Steve Cooper, Cameron Toshack and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.
