Swansea City midfielder Goncalo Franco has shown the true extent of his mouth injury with a post on social media.

The Portugese star was taken to hospital on Sunday to have four teeth rearranged following a nasty collision with Mark McGuinness in a win over Luton Town.

As Franco left the field, he appeared to be bleeding from the mouth and in tears. Now, posting an update on Instagram, he jokingly said: "Three points (tick emoji)" and mentioning fellow Swansea star Myles Peart-Harris, Franco included an image of himself with his bottom teeth jutting out of place with a busted lip.

Franco managed to bag himself a goal in the game against Luton, and Peart-Harris secured the 91st minute winner. The result leaves Swansea in ninth place in the EFL Championship, with three wins in their last five games. It looks likely that Franco, who played excellently against Luton, will miss the upcoming trip to face Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

Swans boss Luke Williams actually revealed that Franco was crying because he couldn't play on, rather than the issue being his teeth.

"He was in tears because he wanted to play," Williams said. "But he had four teeth in the bottom row that were in a completely different position to where they were when the game kicked off.

"The guy's a monster. An absolute monster. So he's not crying because his teeth have been rearranged and he's hurt. He's crying because he wants to carry on playing. I know that when he comes off he's worried that it's going to keep him sidelined for longer than he wants to.

"That's the only reason he's in tears, because he's desperate to stay on. But he's dizzy and he can't close his mouth properly. But that's the character of Goncalo."

Franco was signed by Swansea in July 2024 from Moreirense, and signed a four-year contract with the club. Swans fans have been full of praise for Franco on social media since he signed for the club.
