Swimming club awards night sees more than 100 medals handed out
RYDE Swimming Club's awards night saw over 100 medals given to their successful swimmers.
The accolades were won at the Isle of Wight Club Championships, where Ryde faced off against Seaclose and West Wight Swimming clubs.
Island councillor for Ryde, Michael Lilley, and Ryde Swimming Club chairman, Todd Miller, handed out the awards, followed by the presentation of the male, female and master swimmer of the year accolades, by head coach, Donna Adams.
Todd said: "The swimmers did tremendously well at the Isle of Wight Championships, with the majority of swimmers attaining significant personal best times.
"We are proud of all of our swimmers — and it was great to see the team spirit they display when they are at competitions."
The club has recently secured sponsorship from Wightlink, which will help to make attending mainland competitions easier for the swimmers.

After the awards ceremony, the swimmers took part in a 'swimathon', splitting into five teams, to complete as many lengths as possible in 75 minutes.
The winning team managed more than 200 lengths, with the event raising more than £500 for the club.
The money raised will be used to help volunteers develop their skills.
