Aaron Drinan said that the energy Swindon Town are playing with is proving too much after they defeated Carlisle United 5-1 at Brunton Park.

The striker came off the bench in the first half after Ollie Clarke went down with a tight hamstring and netted the second goal as well as having a hand in the third and fifth as Town swept Carlisle aside.

Drinan said that with Swindon playing the way they do, it is very difficult for the opposition to contain them and that is what has proved so successful.

He said: “I think that the main thing really is that everyone now knows that when one person goes after the ball then everyone follows.

“No teams at the moment can get a grip of the game with the amount of pressure we are putting them under.

“I think that that is definitely one of the key things, especially in League Two, more often than not if you can run and get after teams then you have got a better chance of winning the game. We are doing that really well at the minute.

“The only disappointing thing today was conceding as we would have liked a clean sheet because we don’t have many.

“But even when they went down to ten and got that goal, we were comfortable and confident in ourselves and grabbed another two goals after that.

“The mentality of the group right now is really good.”

Swindon netted their fifth in stoppage time as Will Wright curled a corner into the near post as Drinan challenged the goalkeeper and the ball went home and the Irishman is certain that the goal was his.

He said: “It is most definitely mine. I think that if we slow down the footage and assess the flight of the ball, if there is no flick then it is probably going wide.

“The flick veers it off into the net, so it is definitely myself.

“I am feeling really confident right now, it is nice to get the rewards when you are playing well.

“So, today to score two and be involved in one of the other ones then that was great and as long as I can keep this form going then that can only help the team.

“We have been unbelievable in the last four games and today we just kept getting better throughout the game. Hopefully, we make it five next week.”
