Swindon not expecting sales in final week of transfer window
Swindon Town are not anticipating having to deal with any surprise late departures ahead of the deadline in the January transfer window.
Rosaire Longelo has been the only senior departure from Swindon during this month as he joined Salford City.
With the window closing on February 3, Ian Holloway said that other than one deal that he is working on, any other deals would likely have to be offset with outgoings as Swindon are currently using their whole wage budget.
Sales of key players like Harry Smith and Joel McGregor have previously been ruled out and The Adver understands that Swindon have a great deal of resolve to hang onto Will Wright this month with interest existing in him due to his fine performances since arriving in the summer.
Holloway previously admitted that Swindon had received one offer for a player in the squad, although that was swiftly rebuffed and he is hoping to hold onto his group as he believes it is capable of a far better second half of the campaign.
With the days running down in this window, the 61-year-old said that he did not believe any of his players would be looking to leave the club with the way the group is now.
He said: “[Have you had any offers for your players?] No.
“I am honestly not sure that anyone would want to leave right now with the feeling that we have got in the dressing room. That is the good part.
“You can ask them and I am not sure that any one of them would want to leave.
“Nobody enjoys where we were before and they have gone and done something about it.”
Holloway had said there was a chance that Joel Cotterill could be recalled by Swansea City before the end of the month and his situation, along with the other loanees, remains up in the air.
He said: “[Do you have any clarity on Cotterill’s situation?] Not really, no. The window is not closed because anything could happen with any one of those [loan players].
“Their [Swansea’s] results aren’t very good, so I don’t know but I have not heard anything yet.
“I hope not but it is not my call.”
Cotterill has previously said that he wants to remain with Swindon for the remainder of the season and would be prepared to “hold an argument” with his parent club if they did want to move him to a different club.
