Swindon Town FC groundsman praises team after battling frost and fog
The head groundsman of Swindon Town Football Club has praised his team after Saturday's match went ahead despite fog and frosty weather.
Matt Povey took to social media to share kind words for everyone who helped get the Nigel Eady County Ground green match-ready in the face of freezing temperatures and misty conditions.
He said: "What a week, what a day, massive shout out to my match day divoters and staff Callum Loud and Laurence.
"Pitch performed well considering I haven’t seen it for over 10 days (undercover).
"I'll take wind and rain weather warnings over -7C and freezing fog any day! Onto Tuesday we go."
Fans were just as effusive with their praise and thanks.

The Robins' home game against Crewe Alexander was nearly called off after dense fog drifted into the stadium, making visibility so poor that fans on the stands could not see the pitch a few yards in front of them.
After delays and stop-starts which stretched the first half to nearly two hours, Swindon kept their first clean sheet in the league for 99 days with a 0-0 draw.
The cold snap that created these pitch maintenance challenges is now behind us, as the latest forecast predicts sunny spells and temperatures of around three to eight degrees Celsius in the coming days.
