Swindon young athletes triumph at cross country trials
Young athletes from Swindon excelled at the recent Wiltshire Cross Country Trials, with several qualifying for the South West Championships.
The Park Academies Trust students took part in the event at Sheldon School, Chippenham.
The top 13 runners from each race will now represent Wiltshire in Newquay, Cornwall, next month.
From Abbey Park School, Year Seven pupil Lewis Parker finished fourth, and Doug Kirby, a junior boy, finished sixth.

Jack Saunders, a Year Seven pupil from Lydiard Park Academy, came in seventh, and Olivia Porton, a junior girl, also qualified, finishing in 13th place.
The event saw participation from a wide range of age groups, with some notable performances.
Kayleigh Humphrey, leader of PE at Abbey Park School, praised the athletes, saying: "Our athletes performed amazingly and were a real credit to their schools.
"The cold and icy conditions made this a tough race, and so the results are even more of an achievement, and we’re so proud of everyone who took part."
The competition saw students from various schools in Swindon competing, including Highworth Warneford School, although none of their athletes qualified for the next round.
The upcoming South West Championships will see the selected athletes competing against the best of the region.
