Takehiro Tomiyasu Arsenal injury scare emerges as Bukayo Saka update given before Man United

Takehiro Tomiyasu has not been spotted in training this morning as Arsenal continue their preparations for Sunday's meeting with Manchester United.

Tomiyasu played the full 90 minutes of Saturday's 3-0 victory over Bournemouth, though was nowhere to be seen on Tuesday as Mikel Arteta's men trained at their Colney base.

Video footage captured highlighted the fact the former Bologna defender was not present, though Sky Sports countered this by adding he "could come later on".

One individual who was involved, however, was Jurrien Timber. The Dutchman was left out of the matchday squad at the weekend, despite being in contention to make his long-awaited first-team return. Should Tomiyasu fail to be part of the Arsenal contingent at Old Trafford on Sunday, a chance could therefore arise for Timber.

Elsewhere, Bukayo Saka was seen with strapping on his leg. The England international badly cut his shin during the win over Bournemouth, though this has not prevented him from training as usual.

Saka was withdrawn late on at Emirates Stadium, though the Gunners were well on their way to victory at this stage of proceedings and added a third goal through Declan Rice moments later to make sure of three points.

Asked to provide his thoughts on the challenge made on Saka by Bournemouth's Ryan Christie on Saturday, Arteta told reporters: "The honest answer is I haven't seen any of the incidents because I knew you were going to ask me," Arteta said in his post-match press conference. "I did it on purpose. The analysts said do you want to watch it and I said no because then I can tell the truth.

"I haven't seen them so I cannot comment or have an impression. The one on David, the foul, I cannot see because it's too far. The one on Bukayo, is it on purpose or not? I don't know so difficult for me to judge."
