Tamworth boss Andy Peaks reveals battle plan for Tottenham in FA Cup tie
Tamworth boss Andy Peaks is brimming with ambition ahead of his side's FA Cup third-round encounter with Premier League giants Tottenham on Sunday. As they gear up for the high-profile match, Peaks spoke about the challenges that Spurs will face when they visit Tamworth's Lamb Ground.
"We have to try and use that (home conditions and facilities) to our advantage."
he commented. The Lambs are currently placed 16th in the National League but have had a triumphant journey so far, claiming victories over EFL teams Huddersfield and Burton.

With their home ground able to accommodate around 4,000 fans and featuring a 3G artificial pitch, Peaks knows the visitors are in for an experience far removed from their usual Premier League luxuries. Having recently committed his future to the club until 2027, Peaks relishes the thought of locking horns with Ange Postecoglou’s side, adding, "They’ll get that respect from me and my players before and after but during, we have to be competitive."
He intends to make full use of the home advantage by making it a tough match for the top-flight team: "We have to fight for every ball and make it an intimidating place, bring them down to our level and make it uncomfortable for them."
While acknowledging Spurs’ skill, he muses that the plastic surface might just even the playing field: "You’d like to think it (plastic surface) would be a leveller, it will be to a degree but they have technically good players."
Peaks also speculated that perhaps a softer, natural surface could work more in their favour: "Perhaps if it was any of the other clubs maybe at step two or step three where you have grass, and at this time of year it might be muddy, that would be even more of a leveller, to be honest."
Tamworth have made it to the third round of the competition for the first time in over a decade and are set to be Tottenham Hotspur's first non-league adversaries since their victory over Marine in 2021, where a rapid succession of goals contributed to a 5-0 triumph. Peaks acknowledged the superior quality of Spurs, suggesting they could "steamroll" his squad, yet he hopes to avoid humiliation at the final whistle on Sunday.
He remarked: "It’s going to be tough, I’m not going to lie."
"Yes, there’s a bit of apprehension because they could absolutely steamroll you and I know that because I don’t want it to be embarrassing for the players or anyone at the club but football is football, isn’t it? " "They have got loads of good players so it is going to be tough but you need to look forward to it."
