Tamworth vs Tottenham kick-off delayed as bizarre FA Cup scenes explained
Tottenham's FA Cup trip to non-league Tamworth was delayed after a hole was discovered in the net. Ange Postecoglou's side, fresh off the back of a 1-0 win over Premier League leaders Liverpool, made the trip to The Lamb Ground in the third round of the world's oldest cup competition on Sunday afternoon.
However, amid the excitement around the stadium as Tamworth, who play in the National League - the fifth-tier, prepared to face Spurs, kick-off was halted. This was because referee Peter Banks and his assistant found a gaping hole at the top of Jas Singh's goal.
In order to fix the issue, white tape was brought from the dressing room and onto the playing surface, with Singh, whose partner is in hospital after giving birth to their baby boy on Saturday night, attempting to wrap it around the net and the crossbar to fill the gap.

However, the Tamworth goalkeeper was unable to do by himself and required Beck-Ray Enoru to get on top of Jordan Cullinane-Liburd's shoulders. Eventually, Enoru, who was playing in the seventh-tier with Barwell last season, managed to get the job done and addressed the concern.
While the goal was being fixed, Postecoglou cut an animated figure on the sidelines. And after receiving some light-hearted abuse from the Tamworth supporters, the Aussie turned around and started lapping it up, throwing his arms in the air before taking deep breaths and cracking a rare smile.
The FA Cup match was delayed by six minutes in total before Tamworth got the game underway. And it was the home side who made the better start, with Enoru conjuring up the first chance. He drove down the left before firing the ball towards the near post, but Antonin Kinsky had it covered and parried it behind.
While Tottenham dominated possession and James Maddison almost opened the scoring with a left footed effort from the edge of the box, Tamworth were dangerous - especially from set pieces. Tom Tonks' long throw caused havoc at times, though Kinsky dealt with those as well as he could have done.
