Tamworth vs Tottenham weather update as ice threatens FA Cup postponements
Tottenham Hotspur have been given a weather update ahead of their clash against Tamworth. The National League outfit will host the Lilywhites at The Lamb Ground in the FA Cup third round on Sunday afternoon as Ange Postecoglou looks to get his hands on some silverware.
Tamworth head into the tie off the back of a 1-0 loss to Sutton in the FA Trophy fourth round on Tuesday night. Andy Peaks' side have now won just one of their last five games across all competitions, defeating the South London outfit in the fifth division of English football last month.
As for Tottenham, they enjoyed a 1-0 win over Liverpool in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday evening. With the North London Derby on the horizon, Postecoglou will be hoping his side can carry momentum into the heavyweight bout.

To do so, the FA Cup tie must not be called off. In the neighbouring area of Roughley, six-and-a-half miles away from Tamworth's ground, the temperature is forecast to remain zero degrees Celsius or below on Saturday.
According to BBC Weather, temperatures dropped to as low as minus five degrees Celsius on Saturday morning. football.london content editor Richard Cusack, who is based in Staffordshire, reported the area to be in the grip of a cold snap, with roads iced over, but there's still over 24 hours until kick-off and temperatures are expected to rise.
The weather report states that there will be highs of 3°C with some sunshine and lows of zero on Sunday, when Tottenham lock horns with Tamworth. An official statement from BBC Weather claims matchday to be 'slightly milder'.
It reads: "A settled and slightly milder day tomorrow with fog slow to clear in places. Otherwise, a continued mix of bright spells and variable amounts of cloud under a gentle southerly breeze for most."
Football League matches including Carlisle United vs MK Dons, Shrewsbury vs Huddersfield Town, Port Vale vs Barrow, Northampton Town vs Barnsley and Blackpool vs Cambridge United have already been called off.
Oldham Athletic vs Eastleigh, Hartlepool United vs Barnet, Altrincham vs Wealdstone, Maidenhead United vs York City, Southend United vs Halifax Town, Hungerford Town vs Poole Town, Hornchurch vs Worthing have been called off in the National League, while Mansfield Town vs Wigan and Preston vs Charlton have been postponed in the FA Cup with the ties now set to take place on Tuesday, January 14.
Speaking to reporters on Friday afternoon ahead of the tie, Postecoglou was asked how excited he was to participate in the FA Cup. The Tottenham boss said: "It’s hugely important. Last year we didn’t progress in it. We got through the first round and then dropped out.
"We want to stay in it. At some point in the next few weeks, we will get players back as well, and even though it’s going to mean a congested fixture schedule for us, if we get the players back, we are going to come back.
"I think we will be well placed. We want to stay in the competition and once we get to that moment where we have the squad we need hopefully we can make an impact in it."
While there may be concerns that the Lilywhites' clash against Tamworth could be postponed due to adverse weather, the National League outfit have an astroturf pitch – which the club website describes as 'a state of the art 3G FIFA 2-star rated surface by Slatters'.
