TAYLOR Jacobi bagged a stunning late goal to secure White Ensign a dramatic 4-3 win against Thetford Town in the FA Vase.

Ensign seemed set for a comfortable third round win as goals from Jon Evans, Ellis Devereux and Harry Kateley put them 3-0 up inside 39 minutes at Burroughs Park.

However, the visitors fought back and the tie seemed set to go to penalties until Jacobi struck in the dying seconds of the game.

“It was obviously a great feeling to see the ball hit the back of the net in such a important game and moment,” said Jacobi.

“But I have to thank the management team for having the trust and faith in bringing me on in such a crucial point in the match.”

Jacobi cut in from the left hand side before sending a well-struck high into the top right hand side of the net.

But he always expected a tough test.

“Going into it we always knew it was going to be a difficult game and they definitely gave us that,” said Jacobi, 17.

“They were very comfortable and patient on the ball and even when we was ahead in the game they stuck to it and showed great composure in the difficult circumstances, “However the boys and management showed a great desire and work rate to take us to the finish line.”

The victory set up a fourth round tie at home to Erith & Belvedere in early January.

And Jacobi is keen to keep the good run going.

“I think as a team we can all say that each game is as important as the last whether that’s in the league or in the cup,” said Jacobi.

“However our aim is not to settle for anything less than going to win the whole thing.”
