Josh Sheehan is available for selection as Wanderers prepare to host Cambridge in League One this weekend.

The Welsh midfielder hasn’t featured since the win against Mansfield over a month ago due to a hamstring problem.

Eoin Toal is expected to be back in contention next week, while Chris Forino is “not too far away” from being back in the mix.

“(Sheehan) is a huge player for us, very experienced and knows exactly what we want to do,” said Ian Evatt. “It is great to have him back.

“The squad is getting stronger all the time. Eoin’s return is imminent, Chris Forino is not too far away. Obviously, losing Kyle (Dempsey) isn’t ideal but that is the majority back.”

The Whites enter the game on the back of a hard-fought victory at Lincoln in the Vertu Trophy last 16.

“Clean sheets are always vitally important,” the manager added. “We haven’t kept enough clean sheets so far, but there are different ways of keeping clean sheets.

“If you have the ball and possession, it means the opposition haven’t got it and they can’t score. The raw data from Tuesday, they had 17 shots but a lot of that was speculative from range or on the back of second phase set plays.

“In terms of the general game, we had large amounts of control which - away from home at a different place, against pretty much their strongest XI - was pretty good, I thought, and something to build on. But definitely on the back of what was very poor on Saturday (at Rotherham).

“We have to build on that and we haven’t done that enough this season – build on good performances and results.

“That starts on Saturday. We have got back-to-back home games now and we have to focus on trying to get maximum points.”

The games come thick and fast again in the league, with five matches to contend with in the space of 15 days.

“That is not necessarily a bad thing,” Evatt explained. “Playing regularly can be good for confidence and morale if we are in a confident frame of mind and playing well.

“The things we have spoken about this week, I touched on it on Tuesday, I have been here four-and-a-half seasons and we have had success by building our own DNA an ideology.

“I think we have to stick to that. The players, all of them apart from George Thomason, have been recruited by me.

“They all joined this football club because of the size of it, the stature, the fanbase but also because of the way we play.

“We have to get back to that, be really confident with it, trust it and hopefully that will bring the results we need.”
