Imran Louza is fit for tomorrow’s game with Sheffield United and head coach Tom Cleverley hinted strongly that the game at Vicarage Road could also see a return for defender Angelo Ogbonna.

Louza sat out the game at QPR on Wednesday and his presence was definitely missed as the Moroccan has been in outstanding form.

Former West Ham defender Ogbonna, who joined in the summer, has only made four league appearances and hasn’t featured since the 3-0 defeat at Luton in mid-October where he sustained a hamstring injury.

“Imran has improved a lot and he’s available for the game,” said Cleverley.

“Tom Dele-Bashiru has rejoined the group for training as well so we’re getting stronger in that position.

“It’s always difficult when someone misses 10 or 12 weeks with a hamstring injury like Angelo has.

“You don’t want to throw them back in.

“He’s trained for the last two weeks and he’s looking in good condition, and he’s a big player to be selected in the next game.

“His experience and defensive know-how will bring plenty to us of the qualities that I described after the QPR game.

“Angelo is a live contender to be selected from the start tomorrow.”

Festy Ebosele has made 15 appearances after joining on loan from Udinese but only seven have been as a starter and the most recent of those was against Bristol City on November 26.

Since then the Irish international has only featured for 130 minutes across five outings from the bench.

“Festy is a player we know has exceptional qualities with his speed and power, but there are other things he needs to get better at,” explained Cleverley.

“We talk about those behind closed doors.

“It’s a position on the pitch where we have strong competition with Ryan Andrews, Jeremy Ngakia and Yasser Larouci.

“Right now, I see a couple of them ahead of him.”

The squad have had very little time out on the training pitch because of the busy Christmas and New Year schedule.

“You get to do very little training in these periods,” said the head coach.

“It’s really hard to focus on an area on the training pitch when the players who played on Wednesday can’t do anything on Thursday because physically it’s impossible.

“Then today you have to do a lot of light work, and so you spend a lot of time in classroom situations with video sessions.

“That’s my chance to get information into the players really.”
