What teams are playing in the Super Bowl? Chiefs vs. Eagles for this year's championship
It's like 2023 all over again.
Two years after the Kansas CIty Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles faced off in the Super Bowl, Philadelphia will once again meet Kansas City in the Big Game.
Both teams won their conference championship game Sunday to set up a second consecutive year of a recent Super Bowl rematch. Last year's Chiefs vs. San Francisco 49ers championship was also a rematch, as the two previously met in Super Bowl 54 in 2020. Kansas City won each of those meetings.
Philadelphia, which lost its previous matchup against Kansas City in Super Bowl 57, will look to avoid the same fate as San Francisco, with its two Super Bowl losses to quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs this decade. Kansas City, meanwhile, will be trying to make NFL history.

Who is playing in Super Bowl 59?
The Eagles, champions of the NFC, will face the Chiefs, the champions of the AFC, in this year's Super Bowl.
Philadelphia routed the Washington Commanders in the 55-23 beatdown that was the NFC championship game. Running back Saquon Barkley ran for 118 yards and three touchdowns en route to the Eagles' second NFC title in three years. Their previous Super Bowl berth also included a matchup with Kansas City.
The Chiefs eliminated the Buffalo Bills from the postseason for the fourth time in five years – and the second time in the AFC championship game in that span – on Sunday. Mahomes threw one touchdown and ran for two more scores in the 32-29 win that gave his team its third consecutive AFC title.
With their AFC championship game win, Kansas City became the first team in NFL history to make it to a third straight Super Bowl after winning two in a row. The Chiefs will be looking to take down the Eagles in Super Bowl 59 to also become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Lombardi Trophies.
The last time these two teams met in the Super Bowl was two years ago in Super Bowl 57. The Chiefs won, 38-35, to earn their third title in franchise history.
