These moments can have you on the edge of your seat, make you laugh or cry, and have the power to unify people or tear them apart in spirited debate. While some are purely spectacular displays of athletic power and skill to outdo an opponent, others transcend sport itself: giving voice to injustice, sparking social movements or offering a powerful reflection of Australian culture. But all leave a lasting mark.
